At 1 King's Bench Walk clients have a wide choice, from skilled individual QCs and juniors to talented teams of legal counsel. Large enough to handle all professional requirements, we remain small enough to retain the best that a traditional set of barristers chambers offers. Our members understand the importance of interaction – between themselves and with our clients.
Clients find the members of 1 King’s Bench Walk ready to offer specialised advice in two core areas – Family Law and Criminal Law. A number of members have experience in other areas of civil law.
The members at 1 King’s Bench Walk – silks and junior counsel – offer a depth of experience critical to the strength of a barristers chambers committed to retaining the lead in its specialisms. Members of the Family team have appeared in recent landmark decisions in the House of Lords in relation to both matrimonial finance and child law.
The Criminal team includes two current editors of Archbold, and its members (both silks and juniors) regularly appear in the appellate courts up to and including the House of Lords. Our counsel are instructed for both the prosecution and the defence in cases alleging offences of the most serious gravity including murder and complex high value fraud and drugs importation.
In addition to our core specialisms of family and criminal work, members of 1 King’s Bench Walk are experienced in related civil work, including professional negligence, judicial review, administrative law and actions against the police. Many individuals also undertake cases in other areas of civil work, including personal injury, clinical and medical negligence, professional disciplinary proceedings (in particular before the GMC) employment, education, licensing, landlord & tenant, trading standards, tort and contractual disputes. Please refer to individual members’ profiles or contact the clerks for further information.
1 King’s Bench Walk is proud of past success and determined to take it into the future.
The clerks at 1 King’s Bench Walk are available and ready to deal with client needs, round-the-clock when necessary. Quality legal knowledge, advice and representation are provided by our QCs and Juniors at fees that we believe to be fair and competitive. Do talk to us if you have a view on our charges or indeed on any other aspect of our service. Part of our commitment to quality involves regular client surveys. We welcome your feedback.

Our senior clerk, David Dear , is supported by first junior clerk, Nicola Cade, by second junior clerk Tim Madden, and by two additional junior clerks, Mark Betts and Luke Mullender. This team handles the flow of work into and through chambers. Chambers Director Sue Gray, and Chambers Administrator Jud Lisette, are in charge of administration and fees, and are assisted by fees clerk, Gary Feltham and accounts assistant, Georgina Barber Vega, typist Ann Martin and Dee Parker on reception. We have a full-time administrator, Donna Weiner, in Lewes, Sussex.
David Dear and Sue Gray are in charge of marketing Chambers and managing general client care. They can supply information about our services.
In London we have dedicated conference rooms, while, if more convenient, we can also hold client conferences at our full service premises in Lewes.
