1kbw criminal law work encompasses the full range of criminal procedure and litigation.  We have particular expertise in murder, sexual offences and other cases involving vulnerable witnesses, offences of serious violence, serious fraud, corporate and financial crime, customs and revenue offences, drugs offences and money laundering work.  Members of the criminal law team have, over the years, been involved in a number of high profile cases such as Clowes, Sheldrake, Pinochet, Jenkins and Coutts.  Members of the criminal law team have also been in reported cases in the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords, most recently R (O) v Crown Court at Harrow [2006] 3 WLR 195 HL, [Bail and the Human Rights Act 1998] and R v Richardson [2007] 2 All ER 601 [Guidelines on sentencing cases of death by dangerous driving].

Members of the criminal law team are also experienced in other areas of criminal and similar work such as courts martial, regulatory offences and cases heard by professional disciplinary tribunals, especially the General Medical Council. 

We have a strong working relationship with solicitors and prosecuting bodies in London, the South East and elsewhere in the country.  In particular, 1 King's Bench Walk has a long association with Sussex, maintained through our premises in Lewes situated close to the Crown Court.
