Ashley Thain is a family law practitioner who specialises in all aspects of the Children Act 1989.
Public Law - The majority of Ashley’s work is within care proceedings, predominantly representing parents, although she has considerable experience representing Guardians and Local Authorities. Ashley has undertaken a number of cases of serious child abuse including rape and sexual abuse, torture and child cruelty, and factitious illness disorder.
Private Law - Ashley also has expertise in International Child Abduction and all private law applications including removal from the jurisdiction, and specific issues including change of surname. She has represented a number of clients in applications for contact in cases of gender transition.
Ashley has recently lectured on domestic violence and the impact on contact, and the changing role of parental responsibility.
