His Honour Stuart Farquhar is a highly respected family law specialist with over 40 years of experience as both a barrister and judge. A former member of a Midlands set, he helped establish one of the first specialist family law sets outside London and became a leading Financial Remedies practitioner in the Midlands.
Following his appointment to the judiciary in 2005, he has served as a Family Circuit Judge, a section 9(1) Judge (Deputy High Court Judge), and Lead Judge of the Financial Remedies Court for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He has handled complex, high-value financial cases, appeals, and matters involving international assets, trusts, and commercial interests. Stuart has also played a significant role in judicial training and the development of national Financial Remedies Court procedures.
He now offers private Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) hearings and will be available to conduct arbitrations following completion of accredited training.
