Caroline has specialised in children’s cases since 1997. Her practice includes public and private law aspects of the Children Act, adoption, child abduction, wardship, surrogacy, child related social services law and Court of Protection.

Caroline’s experience includes acting for local authorities, parents, guardians and older children. She has particular experience in cases involving complex medical evidence including Non-accidental injury and Factitious and Induced Illness. She is experienced in dealing with vulnerable clients and has undertaken training in relation to assisting vulnerable witnesses to give evidence.

Recent cases include:
Re M-B 2015 EWCA Civ 1027 representing the local authority in a successful appeal against a judgement in a fact-finding.

Re D [2015] EWCA Civ 1150 representing the local authority in an appeal against care and placement orders.

Re W (Children)(Special Guardianship: Local authority appeal) 2014 EWCA Civ 405 representing the local authority in a fact finding and then welfare hearing in a case where the father had killed the mother.

Caroline has experience in acting in a wide range of private law cases including cases where there are allegations of abuse, substance abuse and parental alienation and international relocation cases. Caroline also has experience in representing transgender clients both adults and children.

Caroline has appeared in a number of child abduction cases.

Caroline has acted in a number of cases in the Court of Protection including:

Re MIG (incapacitated adult) and MEG (incapacitated minor) [2010] EWHC 785 (Fam) where the court had to consider whether the arrangements constituted a deprivation of liberty.
