Charles accepts instructions in all areas of family law and has experience appearing at all levels up to and including the High Court. He joined chambers as a tenant in October 2023 after successful completion of his pupillage under the supervision of Peter Newman, Jennifer Perrins and George Gordon.

Prior to starting pupillage, Charles worked as a paralegal at a boutique London law firm specialising in high net worth matrimonial finance, often with an international element. He assisted with a variety of cases, gaining experience in multiple areas of family law including private law children and international child abduction proceedings.

Whilst pursuing his legal studies, Charles volunteered with the Schools Consent Project, where he led workshops in secondary schools discussing the law relating to sexual consent. He also mooted extensively, including as a finalist in the international Monroe Price Media Law competition, and volunteered with Big Voice London as a mooting mentor to aspiring young lawyers from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Charles accepts instructions in all aspects of financial proceedings including matrimonial finance, enforcement, variation, applications pursuant to TOLATA 1996, applications under Part III of the MFPA 1984 and applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. His cases have involved issues of pre/post-marital assets, non-disclosure and jurisdictional issues.

During pupillage, Charles was exposed to and assisted with complex financial work involving non-matrimonial property, trust structures, businesses, and high-value assets.

Charles regularly accepts instructions in disputes concerning contact, residence (including cases involving relocation) and the exercise of parental responsibility.

His cases have involved complex issues of domestic abuse, parental alienation, relocation, rule 16.4 guardians and the instruction of experts.

During his pupillage, Charles assisted with a number of cases under the Hague Convention and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction. In his own capacity, he has appeared as sole counsel in the High Court in an application for a return order under the court’s parens patriae jurisdiction. He accepts instructions in relation to all stages of proceedings involving child abduction.

Charles accepts instructions in public law proceedings from Local Authorities, guardians, parents and other family members.
