Victoria Halsall is a specialist family barrister working across all areas of family law, including financial remedy, private and public law proceedings. Victoria has deliberately maintained a specialism in all areas, in order to offer continuity and experience across family law proceedings.
She has experience working on complex and serious cases in all areas, whether as a junior in her own right, or as part of a team. She has extensive experience in cross-examination, including of expert witnesses and dealing with contested facts, as well as negotiation and settlement. Victoria sits as a private FDR judge alongside her court practice.
Victoria acts on behalf of all parties in private children disputes, including parents, extended family members, and rule 16.4 Guardians. Her cases have included disputes about contact and residency, other section 8 orders (such as specific issues in relation to schooling and international travel) and parental responsibility.
Victoria has experience in cases involving allegations of parental alienation, applications for leave to remove (including non-Hague countries), and those involving serious allegations of domestic abuse. A number of her cases have involved the instruction of experts.
Victoria acts in all aspects of family finance proceedings, including matrimonial finance, applications pursuant to TOLATA 1996, and applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. Victoria’s cases have significantly ranged in terms of assets available – she is as adept with both modest asset cases and those with a high net worth.
She has undertaken advice and court proceedings in relation to variation and enforcement, pre/post-marital assets, contributions, valuations, non-disclosure, and jurisdictional issues.
Victoria has experience acting both in court and as part of methods of alternative dispute resolution, having represented clients in both Arbitrations and Private FDRs.
Victoria undertakes cases in public law proceedings on behalf of Local Authorities, parents, Guardians, and other family members. She has acted in cases involving neglect, domestic abuse, substance misuse and allegations of child sexual abuse.
Victoria has a growing interest and specialism in cases concerning disclosure to regulatory bodies from family law proceedings.
Victoria undertakes cases at every stage of child abduction proceedings, from first to final hearing.
Victoria accepts instructions from members of the public on a direct access basis.
Victoria is available to conduct private FDRs and is eager to develop a growing practice in this area.
Victoria is available to undertake Early Neutral Evaluation, in order to assist parties in resolving matters at an early stage.
