Set Overview

A popular choice for high-profile children and matrimonial finance matters. Individuals here have practices that encompass both domestic and cross-border disputes, and expertise in the handling of child abduction, adoption and surrogacy cases. The barristers are sought after by high net worth, often international, clients as well as a host of professionals to handle complex proceedings. The set’s money practice, in particular, receives unanimous praise, with practitioners taking on the full gamut of high-value, financial disputes before the highest courts in the country. Specific prowess exists in cases involving prenuptial disputes, Schedule 1, offshore trusts, TOLATA, and many more. One source says: “The set is fantastic. It has a blend of the best barristers in the business. The members here are personable and approachable, and the quality of their knowledge is second to none.”

Client Service

An interviewee describes the clerks as “helpful and flexible,” adding that “they will move heaven and earth to find replacements if a barrister is ill at the last minute.” Another source describes Chris Gittins the senior clerk as “a breath of fresh air who, with the rest of the excellent clerking team, makes 1KBW a pleasure to work with.”

1 King’s Bench Walk will re-open on Wednesday 2 December 2020

1KBW is pleased to announce that we will again begin the process of reopening chambers from 2nd  December 2020. A series of measures are in place to ensure the safety of all staff, members and visitors.

We have been successfully working remotely during the second lockdown period and a number of staff and members will continue to do so to ensure social distancing measures are kept in place, as per government guidance.

We continue to request that all client meetings be conducted virtually, where possible. We are fully equipped to carry on with client conferences via telephone or video link, on any preferred platform. Should you require to come in to chambers for a meeting, please contact a member of the clerking team to make arrangements.
