Over the next three days, three members of chambers appear in the Court of Appeal in Re P, one of three conjoined appeals forming a landmark case addressing the law of parentage and parental responsibility.
Re P concerns uniquely complex issues with respect to the paternity of a child, where it has not been possible to determine which of two identical twin brothers is the biological father, there being a 50:50 finding as to their respective likelihood of paternity.
The appeal raises significant and novel questions with regard to legal parentage, and consequences for parental responsibility under the Children Act 1989.
Anna McKenna KC MCIArb, leading Naomi Wiseman and Joseph Landman, represent the mother, instructed by Charles Mellor of Creighton Partners
